The main aim of the Lithuanian Innovation Centre is to provide a qualified support to Lithuanian research institutions, industry and SMEs in the field of innovations and technology transfer.

Since the year 2000, together with public institution ”Science and Technology Park” the Centre has been implementing a long-term project of European Commission ”Innovation Relay Centre in Lithuania – IRC in Lithuania”. IRC in Lithuania provides research institutions and enterprises with technical support for operation in European technological market.
In 2003, the Centre expanded its activities by creating the Innovation Support Network that has five representatives in the regions of Lithuania. The main aim of the network is to increase the international competitiveness of Lithuanian enterprises by means of implementation of new technologies and absorbing the EU Structural Funds.

The primary objectives of the Science and Technology Park are to stimulate the links between research and business communities, to support commercialisation of the research results and to assist innovative companies through various stages of their development by offering them a wide of services.
The Park campus provides with the infrastructure for the start-ups and spin-offs: research base, technological and production facilities, office and production premises.
Services for the clients of the Park: consultation on business establishment, bookkeeping, technical expertise and consultations for technology transfer, information on the EU research and development programmes and partner search for the EU projects.

The Park was established in order to manage an innovative environment in the campus of Northtown, Vilnius, Lithuania.
The primary purposes and activities of the Park are:
To promote the innovational culture and to improve the competitiveness of the Park business community by means of increasement of the scope of innovation and exploitation of research in company activities
To facilitate the creation and growth of technology-based business by providing qualitative office space, business advice, business pre-incubation and incubation services to innovative and academic spin-off companies. Also to deliver post-incubation and international incubation services for knowledge and technology based companies
To promote Lithuanian R&D and innovation in the high tech business community of the technology park; to develop education and training facilities for entrepreneurs and business in the Park; to facilitate networking and public relation activities for innovation and R&D in the Park by means of organization of seminars, conferences, other events

Sunrise Valley knowledge economy cluster project is a joint effort of high-tech business and academia, supported by public organizations, including Vilnius City Municipality and Knowledge Economy Forum. In May 2003, in order to foster the Sunrise Valley cluster development, Vilnius University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, laser technologies company ”Ekspla”, telecommunication operator ”Bitė” and IT company ”Alna” established the public institution ”Saulėtekio slėnis” (Sunrise Valley).
The co-founders have set five main objectives to the Sunrise Valley knowledge economy cluster project:
To provide with modern conditions for qualitative education and research which are linked with professional activities and business environment
To generate employment opportunities for highly qualified university graduates, scientists and other specialists
To provide favourable conditions for commercialisation of research
To act as an indispensable link between science and technology parks and business incubating system in Vilnius
To provide with the basis for local and foreign investment for the research projects
The overall aim of the Sunrise Valley project is to contribute to the growth of Lithuanian knowledge economy and increase the worldwide competitiveness of Lithuania by means of systematic generation, use and communication of knowledge throughout the economy and society.
